Tagisang Robotics: Design, Build and Play is a competition made for the Filipino youth who have the skills, knowledge, and interest in the field of Cybernetics. It’s not just a contest in making a robot. It is a test of intellect, creativity, understanding, teamwork, and determination.

This contest aims to help the participants harness their skills by working with others. It encourages students to think broader and come up with solutions on whatever challenges presented before them and allow them to be able to put their ideas into action.

Thirty (30) teams from different Science and Technology- Oriented high schools will participate in this contest. Each ready and determined to win.

This page contains everything about the competition.

I. ROBOT INSPECTION

Robot dimension should fit inside a 2x2x2 ft. box.

1. There is an official inspection team to ensure all robots are safely constructed and fall within the required parameters. The robot dimension is limited to 2x2x2 feet at a stationary position. A 6 inches robot extension (all dimension) is allowed only if the extension part is “padded” at all sides. The weight limit of a robot is 20 kg. The inspection team is located at the Pit Administrator section all day on the Practice Game until the last day of the event.

2. All robots must be inspected before and after the practice games; before match games and every change the team makes with the robot.

3. Inspectors will use an official Inspection sheet for checking robots. Inspectors check off items on an Inspection Sheet as the team passes those portions of the process.

4. Student team members must accompany their robot at all times during the inspection and be prepared to answer Inspectors' questions on their robot.

5. Correct items and return for inspection until your robot passes. A sticker shall be placed on the robot as a seal once the robot passes inspection. A team will be disqualified if the seal is broken.

6. A documentation of the additional parts incorporated in the building of the robots, cost of each additional part should be submitted to Tagisang Robotics Secretariat.

II. QUARANTINE

1. All robots must be placed under quarantine after practice games
after Elimination Rounds, and after the Final Rounds.
2. No one from the team is allowed to make adjustments with their robot after it has been
quarantined. Failure to do so will result to disqualification.
3. The robot will be released to the teams before the start of Elimination Rounds, and after the Awarding Ceremonies.

III. SCHEDULES AND MATCHES

1. Schedule of practice games will be officially announced. The announcement will be posted on the Tagisang Robotics Facebook Fanpage or can be downloaded on the Tagisang Robotics Website
2. Schedule of matches for the Elimination Round will be officially announced after the
Practice Game on Nov. 27, 2012. The announcement will be posted on the Tagisang
Robotics Facebook Fanpage or can be downloaded from
the Tagisang Robotics Website.

considered as a default. Any match won, where the team’s robot, captain, drivers and
shooters are present, will be credited to their team.
4. Playing teams for the next round should be in the assigned alliance waiting area one game
before their assigned match. Failure to do so would be considered as a default for their
team.
5. Teams would be seeded according to their win-loss-draw card. In case of a tie, quotient
system will be implemented to determine the actual rank of each team.
6. A quotient is determined by the sum of the scores of the team divided by the total number
of matches they played. The higher the quotient, the higher is the rank of the team.

9. There will be three matches for each pairing in the semi-final round. The alliance that gets two wins shall compete in the final round. There will be three matches in the Final round. The alliance that gets two wins shall be declared the winner.

V. SCORING

1. Alliances score in a match by shooting buko, milon and pakwan balls into the opponent’s goal. Buko balls can only be touched and scored at the 1 minute mark. Failure to do so will result to a deduction of one (1) point to the Alliance’s total score. Alliances could only score milon balls that correspond to the color of their alliance. Shooting the opponent’s milon ball to the alliance’s own goal will be credited to the opponent alliance’s score.
2. An alliance can bring an opponent’s milon ball to their own shooter’s area to exchange for a pakwan ball. The pakwan ball can only be exchanged and scored during the last 30 seconds of the present match. Touching and scoring the pakwan ball before the last 30 seconds of the present match will be penalized by a deduction of ten (10) points to the alliance’s total score. Each pakwan ball is worth 10 points. Each alliance is only allowed to shoot two pakwan balls in a match. Shooting the opponent’s pakwan ball to the alliance’s own goal will be credited to the opponent alliance’s score.
3. At the end of each match, the winning alliance shall be decided on the basis of the number of milons and pakwans in the goal minus the corresponding deductions due to committed violations. In case of a tie, a draw is declared.
4. Final score of the match and current team standing will be shown at the screen at the end of each match.

VI. AWARDS

1. The Best Team to be awarded is the team with the highest seed after the championship. Teams will be seeded according to their win-loss card.
